St. Germain becomes Grand Lake Fire Chief

Grand Lake Fire has its next chief, hiring from within the department and selecting interim chief Seth St. Germain.
Recognizing St. Germain’s performance in the interim period, the Grand Lake Fire Protection District’s board of directors voted unanimously Wednesday to solidify him in the position. St. Germain’s first official day as chief was Sunday, starting with the new pay period. Read Full Article
Grand Lake Fire reports stronger ambulance service

The Grand Lake Fire Protection District’s taxpayers ushered in a 2019 mill levy telling the department to pursue a few objectives.
Voters favored paying the new tax in exchange for an enhanced ambulance response and services, heightened wildfire suppression and prevention capabilities, and for the fire department to have the necessary equipment and personnel to accomplish those goals.

Firefighters extinguish Friday night blaze at Spirit Lake Lodge in Grand Lake

Reached over the phone Saturday, lodge workers said they were grateful for the firefighters who got the flames under control so quickly and kept water damage to a minimum.
At the same time, Fire Marshal Dan Mayer of Grand Lake Fire Protection District commended the lodge workers, who Mayer said emptied about four fire extinguishers on the blaze before firefighters arrived.
Mayer estimated with Grand Lake Fire’s crews only about a mile away from the lodge when the fire broke out, that it only took a few minutes for them to arrive. Read Full Article
